The station-master's office,
at the Lod railway station. The town of Lod is adjacent to Ben Gurion Airport, Israel's primary connection to the rest of the planet. This railway station has developed at a more leisurely rate - when this photograph was taken, the station building dated from Turkish times. These are the railroads that Lawrence of Arabia used to blow up. And who knows, the building and the typewriter might still be the same, though this picture was taken in the late seventies.

I must have been changing trains on the way from Haifa to Beersheva.
