This is the Tower of David,
which is next to the Jaffo Gate, one of the gates into the Old City of Jerusalem. It is the entrance into the city from the west, the road winds up through the olive grove hills from the coast. Though named for biblical King David, it was built during the Turkish Ottoman Period.

Today it faces modern Jerusalem, a collection of high rise buildings, and a rambling multimillion dollar real estate development, which tries to combine the picturesque quality of old villages with metropolitain profit margins.
