Did the city die?

or did the web do it in?

Do you like going down to your home town square, taking a table under the shaded arcades and sharing a drink and good conversation with friends?

Or do you have to go to the next town (or the next country) to find a decent town square?

Well!

Come and see what's on the town!

This site is about towns and the ongoing crisis in urban design (that is, urban design has difficulty imposing itself as a social issue, since no one is really interested in it anymore). But its also about the web, the hottest virtual estate around, where no expenses are spared, in embellishment, or in infrastructure.

While the media have undoubtedly superseded urbanity as purveyor of a symbolic language for communal expression, is the web a new paradigm for urban life?
